Who is the founder?
Luciana graduated in Veterinary Medicine in Brazil in 1996. Throughout her career, she developed and managed an integrated animal care model that combined veterinary hospital services with grooming, boarding, and daycare, allowing for coordinated and individualized care for each animal.
Her professional background is strongly focused on preventive care, rehabilitation support, environmental adaptation, and long-term management of animals with chronic conditions, disabilities, or special behavioral and medical needs.
This integrated care model is the foundation of LuAngel Special Needs Pets. While LuAngel currently operates through specialized pet services, its structure and philosophy are based on Luciana’s prior experience in comprehensive animal care environments. The organization is being developed step by step, beginning with hands-on services and expanding responsibly as regulatory and operational processes allow.
LuAngel was created to bring this approach to families who need flexible, thoughtful, and individualized support for pets who do not fit within rigid, high-volume care systems. As a nonprofit organization, LuAngel prioritizes safety, transparency, and quality of life over speed or volume of services.
After relocating to the United States, Luciana continued working closely with animals in a variety of care settings, including animal hospitals and grooming environments. These experiences allowed her to further develop her skills while adapting to the structure and standards of animal care in the U.S.
During this time, she consistently observed that pets with special needs, chronic conditions, or heightened sensitivity often had negative experiences in traditional grooming and boarding settings. Many of these animals struggled not because they were aggressive, but because the environment, pace, or handling methods did not account for their limitations or stress levels.
Luciana also witnessed the difficult reality faced by families who were forced to make heartbreaking decisions when treatment or long-term care was financially out of reach. These experiences reinforced her belief that compassionate, flexible care models are essential especially for pets who require more time, patience, and understanding.
Through years of hands-on work, Luciana collaborated with a wide range of professionals in animal care, learning from both effective practices and systemic shortcomings. These insights shaped the foundation of LuAngel Special Needs Pets, which was created to reflect the same level of care, respect, and responsibility that guided her work throughout her career.
