Report Animal Abuse
To report suspected animal abuse in San Diego, you should take the following steps:
- Contact your local authorities: Call the San Diego Police Department’s non-emergency line at (619) 531-2000 or the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200 to report the abuse.
- Report the abuse to San Diego Humane Society: The San Diego Humane Society investigates animal cruelty and neglect cases in the San Diego area. To report animal abuse, call their 24-hour hotline at (619) 299-7012 or use their online reporting form.
- Gather evidence: If possible, collect evidence of the abuse, such as photos or videos, while maintaining a safe distance from the situation. Document the location, date, time and any other relevant details. This information may be useful for the investigation.
- Provide detailed information: When reporting the incident, be as specific as possible about the location, animals involved, and the nature of the abuse. The more information you can provide, the better the authorities can respond and investigate.
- Follow up: Stay in contact with the authorities or animal welfare organization you reported the abuse to, and provide any additional information or updates if necessary.
Report a YouTube Video
To report a YouTube video that includes animal abuse and potentially have the page taken down, follow these steps:
- Open the video on YouTube that you want to report.
- Beneath the video, locate the three vertical dots next to the “Save” button and click on them.
- A drop down menu will appear. Select “Report” from the menu.
- A “Report video” window will pop up. Choose the reason for reporting the video from the list provided. Common reasons may include violent or repulsive content, harmful or dangerous acts, harassment, or hateful content.
- Depending on the reason you selected, you may need to choose a subcategory. For example, if you selected “Violent or repulsive content,” you may need to specify “Animal abuse” as the subcategory.
- Optionally, you can provide additional information in the text box that appears, such as timestamps for specific instances of abuse or violations.
- Review your report and click “Report” to finalize and submit it.
YouTube will review the reported content, and if it is found to violate the platform’s community guidelines, it may remove the video or take further action against the uploader.
Keep in mind that reporting a video does not guarantee its removal, but multiple reports can increase the likelihood of YouTube taking action. Encourage others to report the video if they also find the content inappropriate or harmful.
